Certified Occupational Safety Instructor (COSI) is a safety practitioner who specializes in specific areas occupational safety training at workplace. The safety training expertise must be in a definite area such as fire safety, transportation safety, hazardous materials, product safety, health care safety, electrical safety, oil well drilling and well servicing, ladder safety etc.
He or she masters in developing safety competence framework and all training needs in various industries.
BCOSP is accredited by the American Certification Service – Global Program (ACS-GP) under ISO/IEC 17024 – Requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.
BCOSP sets certification criteria for Certified Occupational Safety Instructor (COSI®) through the ISO/IEC 17024 standards for personnel certification.
Application Criteria for COSI®
have minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any field or a professional qualification in occupational health and safety recognized by international safety organizations or other approved disciplines by the Board.
have seven (15) years of safety experience where safety management and safety training are at least 50% preventative*, professional level with his/her safety duties.
Your duties are actively involved with provision of day to day risk assessments and control measures to protect people, and prevent incidents/ accidents at work
Must pass the COSI® examination
